Black Belt Hall of Fame member Bram Frank is a first-generation personal student and disciple of the late Remy Presas, the founder of modern arnis. Frank has studied various fighting arts such as wing chun, jeet kune do and karate for more than 40 years. He has taken the principles from each and applied them to the Philippine martial arts. He holds dan rank in several arts.

Over the last several years, Frank has concentrated on the use of edged weapons/tools as a principle instrument of self-defense and its use in military, police and anti-terrorism applications. Currently, he is the director of edged-weapons training at the
S2 Institute in Florida. Frank travels worldwide teaching seminars on the use of blunt and edged weapons to other martial artists, civilians, military and law-enforcement personnel.

Frank designed and holds patents on the world’s first kinetic opening full-force continuum knife called the Escalator, which later evolved into a modern version made by
Spyderco: the Gunting. The concept has spread to new versions such as the Lapu Lapu Corto by Chesuker-Messer of Germany, and the U.S. Marine Corp. carries a knife based on Frank's design.
