Mikel Steenrod

 Martial artist Mikel Steenrod is the founder of the Water Mountain Martial Society.

Mikel Steenrod was born on 1968 in Tokyo to an American military family. He began his martial arts training in 1979. His primary titles include master standing in "heaven fist 10,000 kung fu,"
earned as the protégé of Soon Jun of the Clan Soon; sifu-level skill in chi na, earned from Hon Guerra; guro standing in kombatan arnis from Jon Rudy and Ernesto Presas; and lineage holder standing in the "4 ascendant spheres purity adept school of the Tao."

His western credentials include three bachelor's degrees in psychology, biology and English literature and a master's degree in English literature.

Steenrod founded the
Water Mountain Martial Society in 2000. Water Mountain is well-known for its training systems, designed to make difficult tasks learnable in easy-to-understand steps.
